Real love..

Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in the wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends... (I Cor. 4-8)

Real love is everlasting. People get love confused with lust and infatuation, or even comfort and security. Love does not mean you can accept being with that person or it "makes sense" to be with that person, it means that unadulterated care, compassion and attraction for someone. That no matter what happens you truly want the best for them, similar to that of a parent to his/her child.

Love is amazing, it can be incredible beyond measure...if you treat it right. But of course, there's always a flip side to everything; with the good comes the bad (such is the nature of life). People get what I like to call "love sick" and seem to completely loose all sense of direction and sense of everything and anything. What I mean by that is that they loose sight of everything and life becomes an obsession of love.

Here is a piece written by a friend of mine along time ago:

No one ever tells you, About the dark side of love, The bottomless pit, That you can't escape from, No one ever tells you, About the tears you will cry, How much they burn, Or how you feel like you could die, No one ever tells you, How to mend a broken heart, How to get over your first love, Or how you lost the spark, No one ever tells you, When things will be okay, Why you fall in love, Or why things went stray, No one ever told me, I was falling in love, That I couldn't escape, That I couldn't run, No one ever told me, That I will have ups and downs, That for every time I smiled, I will have to wear two frowns, No one ever told me, About the unbearable pain, How you wished that he would feel it, How you would pray for it to go away, No one ever tells you, About the darkside of love, They paint a fairytale picture, Of what life is made of...

Breakups may just be one of the hardest things to go through in life, for some at least. I feel strongly that those who generally take breakups lightly may have either intimacy issues or just issues expressing their emotions in general. Love is meant to make you wonderful and empowered, not insecure or doubtful. I have compassion for all, but especially those who cannot express or understand their emotions for what they really are.... It is sad to see love go to waste.

Real love is everlasting. It is that unadulterated care, compassion and attraction for someone. I wrote those words, they are not quoted or seen from anywhere. So the accuracy of the statement could be debated, if one were to feel the need.
